INTEGRATED CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR VENDORS AND DEVELOPERS OF ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY SOLUTIONS

Summary:

Led by the Innovative Solutions Consortium (ISC), the Loudoun County Department of Economic Development, the Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce (LCCC), and the Mason Enterprise Center (MEC) have all partnered with Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) to arrange a competitive challenge focused on discovering disruptive new technologies that will have a significant impact on the education enterprise.   Potential solutions for “hard-to-solve” education problems, described in Jivango, will be judged by panels of technology experts, and concluding with prototypes from industry finalists presented on October 22, 2015 at the LCPS Challenge and students table displays on March 12, 2016 at the LCPS Technology Challenge Fair. These first-of-its-kind-in-the-nation events will be utilizing the ISC’s Global Open Innovation Process to assist LCPS. Up to 70% of the world’s internet traffic travels through Loudoun County, Virginia on a daily basis, and more than 900 federal government prime contractors call Loudoun County home. Please be sure to read all of the important background information below prior to submitting your application. The applications and information can be found on Jivango. See instructions on how to sign up and apply below.

The hard to solve challenges we are addressing here will more than likely require organizations to come together and collaborate by combining their unique offerings to form more complete solutions. Therefore the ISC and our partners are sponsoring a series of Collaboration Sessions to provide applicants time to meet, discuss their technological solutions, and find others with complimentary offerings to collaborate with. We encourage you to take advantage of these sessions in order to form more complete, robust, and innovative solutions that go beyond the capabilities of a single company. Two public, one invite only for Industry Finalists, and one student only collaboration sessions will be held in Northern Virginia. The Jivango environment will further help enable applicants to collaborate with each other.

September 4, 2015 is the application deadline for Industry Organizations wishing to participate in the Loudoun County Public Schools Challenge. All Industry Proposals will be reviewed by an ISC Selection Committee to select the companies and/or collaboration teams that will participate in the public LCPS Challenge event.  Student applications are due on or before October 2, 2015 to participate in the LCPS Technology Challenge Fair.

The Application Form:

To participate in the LCPS Challenge or LCPS Technology Challenge Fair you must begin by submitting your solution. Go to Jivango to apply by selecting the appropriate Community and completing the application, which will take about 20 minutes to complete. Registering you company and setting up your account will take a few additional minutes. However, by using this system, your product/service offerings will be made available for other organizations to see, which may lead to other revenue opportunities beyond the LCPS Challenge.

FYI: By definition, a DISCOVERY is the same as a CHALLENGE AREA, and this is how you submit your SOLUTION APPLICATION

  1. Select the Innovative Solutions Consortium Community if you represent an organization or professional technologist, or the Loudoun County Public School Community if you are a student (students must have a teacher or parent sponsor set up the account).
  2. Choose the Discovery (Challenge Area) that you wish to submit a solution for, and read the details by clicking on “MORE”. You may choose to apply for more than one Discovery.
  3. Click on the “Register for Discovery” button on the left hand side on each of the Discovery Pages to to open the application form. Complete a unique form for each challenge area you are submitting a solution for. You will be prompted to sign in or register at this time. By joining Jivango, organizations will be able to promote their products and services to other organizations looking for your technology or interested in collaborating with you for both the LCPS Challenge and other opportunities in the future.

NOTE: You will be asked to “Join” twice…once to be part of Jivango and once to join the desired Community (ex. ISC). You may join other communities too, but each community has its own membership restrictions, such as making a DUNS number mandatory.

Organizations that submit a solution(s) will be considered to be a Finalist in the LCPS Challenge Event. Submitting an application does not guarantee that your organization will be selected to present.

All students will have an opportunity to present their prototypes at the LCPS Technology Challenge Fair.
