Student-Led Ideation Challenge (SLIC) Launches

The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) & ISC released the Student-Led Ideation Challenge (SLIC) Program last week to teachers representing approximately 400,000 high school students for a statewide ideation challenge. The SLIC Program is designed to engage high school students to find solutions to real world challenges using Project-Based Learning (PBL).

The challenge areas for the 2016/2017 academic year are:

  • Education
  • Robotics/UAVs
  • Natural Resources & Global Warming

In March, students across the state will be competing to determine which student team has designed the most innovative idea for each of these challenges, and will be awarded scholarships.

Although the Program has been designed for VDOE, it is open to high schools across the country, and they will be able to compete against students within their own states.
